D-ELAN bunches together, and represents, the variety of players in the e-learning fields of content, technology and service

In Germany there are a number of large, but also a steadily growing number of small, e-learning providers. Until now, however, there was no institution to represent the joint interests of this very promising industry.

Experts from the education industry and applied research, representatives of renowned IT companies and e-learning providers have come together to close this gap.
The most recent - but certainly not the last - highlight of these efforts was the foundation of D-ELAN during the LEARNTEC 2004. At this opportunity, the D-ELAN association presented itself to the public for the first time.

The essential task of this interest group is to further the dialogue on the topic of e-learning between providers, potential users, politics, business and science to a greater extent than has been done so far.

In addition, joint initiatives of providers and potential users are to increase the acceptance of e-learning not only in the public eye but also among those responsible for planning in companies and thus, ultimately, among learners. D-ELAN therefore forms an open network for all professional e-learning players from the fields of business, public administration and science.
In future, it will be of decisive importance for the further development of the e-learning industry to combine computer-aided learning with other central business processes. To this end, D-ELAN has already established contact with the Federal Association for the Information Economy, Telecommunications and New Media (Bundesverband Informationswirtschaft, Telekommunikation und neue Medien e.V. - BITKOM).
